My personal views on the topic are mostly not in favour of Genetic Screening/Testing. Firstly I do agree with the testing that is safe and harmless and provides the person with useful information, but my main problems with it include the risk factors included in some tests, the morality on having a child aborted depending on how healthy it is and the idea of trying to create a perfect race.
As talked about in the arguments against Genetic Screening/Testing, different types of testing can lead to a risk of an unborn child being miscarried and for me, the idea of a family losing the unborn child because they wanted know if it was healthy, amongst other things such as sex, seems fruitless.
Depending on the disease that the child is diagnosed with, an abortion can be unethical. For example in China the one child policy only allows families to have one child and because of this many families want their child to be a boy, to carry on the family name. This means that after a screening if the child is found to be a girl it is sometimes aborted.
Creating a perfect race immediately brings to mind Hitler and his quest to create a perfect race and whilst the methods to both ideas are different the idea is still the same and the problem with this is that everyone's idea of perfect is different.
